Design Technology Curriculum Intent
At Sithney Primary School, it is our intent that Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Our aim is to encourage learners, of all ages and needs, to think creatively in order to solve problems both as individuals and as members of a team. We encourage children to use their creativity and imagination, to design, make and evaluate products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts and consider the needs, wants and values of others. We aim, wherever possible, to link projects to other disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Learners are given opportunities to find out about and evaluate design technology
past and present. We also consider it essential that alongside all of our projects time is given to explore and practice relevant skills, these are not only essential in project work but essential to daily life. Our aim is that Design Technology at Sithney Primary School will encourage children to become innovators, risk takers and lifelong learners.
